Haunting
Reading this book has made me a better writer. I suspect I shall be haunted by its spell for weeks.
I love this book. Truly.
It's hard to put into words what all worked for me in this one but this book made me angry (for the main character), cry, all of it. Fridlund's writing is so good.
This felt like two halves of two different good stories that inexplicably got merged together, but never really fit. While this wasn't completely convincing, I do think the author has promise and will look forward to seeing what she writes next.
Sometimes nature hands you a snow day and you can spend the entire day reading-guilt free. Today was one of those days for me and I got to tackle History of Wolves, which has been on my TBR for a long time now. Considering I have been only reading scifi lately, this made for a nice departure. I thought Linda's voice was compelling and the story line awesome. I'm not sure how I feel about all of the subplots. Did I truly understand the Lily thing? Not really. Did I really get the whole ex-commune thing? Again, nah. I think Linda is a bit tight-lipped and because of that the reader only gets what she's willing to share. I'm not sure Linda understood these things either. It was a great read and I'm glad I got to spend with it.
