Home field advantage by Dahlia Adler - Published by @wednesdaybooks
When the star quarterback dies in a tragic accident, Jack has her chance to join the team, transferring from another school and being a girl, the team does not want to accept her. The whole team and the cheerleaders are on the warpath.
Amber is aspiring to be cheer captain next year and wants to help Jack fit in without ruining her chances next year.
Trouble is Amber can't seem to help how she feels about Jack and having to keep it secret in a group of people who all seem to be homophobic is making Amber realize that she might not be ready to be out of the closet yet.
Super cute LGBTQ book. I loved that the author didn't just include same sex romance into this book, but also blew apart gender stereotyping in books. The fact that Jack is an amazing QB just makes it harder for the boys to accept her into the fold and they make things really hard for her and you can see where she wants to give up and go home but she does her best to ride it out.
I like that the book took on some heavy topics but still kept the book upbeat enough to not feel like a drag. I enjoyed it!
