After reading the disastrous novella, this actually came out better than I thought. I read the first two books two years ago and my opinion since then Changed drastically as I naturally gained more experience. I am going to have to edit my rating.
Kate is definitely less idiot than the rest YA heroins out there but she still is an idiot like that time she gets into the guerisseures cave and find the symbol absolutely everywhere but doesn't reach that conclusion until she sees a painting as if that actually changes something *rolls eyes*
This whole series was kind of predictable but I didn't feel that in the first two books as much as I felt it in this one. it was verrrryyyyy predictable especially after the first 20% of this book. And you know how much I hate predictable?
And then we come to the point I hated most about this whole series. Her writing style wasn't bad all in all but What is this thing with too many feelings? Every kiss takes a page's worth of feelings and it is described very shabbily. After reading Jane Eyre, I got into this unconscious habit of comparing every author with Charlotte's kiss description. So what Charlotte does is that after making us long for a bit of lovey-dovey action for 250 pages with small font, she just says that Richard (??) kisses her. And just that. She just goes on describing the nice moon and the nice tree and writes down more flirtatious conversation (well, flirtatious in her time) between her and Richard (?? I forget his name, honestly). High five to badass Jane who after waiting to be noticed for a year and feeling a pang after another of jealousy and how just incompetent she is, she manages to stay calm and keep her composure when finally what she wanted happened and maintain her independency. Kate is such a dependent brat. All female heroins are dependent these days. Jane Eyre kicks ass.
I don't regret this series at all. It was definitely entertaining. To me, it was something to pass the time. Definitely not a literary work. Let us call these kind of novels book prostitutes ok? Entertaining, a bit pleasurable but will only ever be quickies.
Also, the book ended abruptly and too quickly.
Again, too predictable. I hate predictable.
I'm so sad to see this series end and I don't know how I feel about this ending. I think the ending is appropriate, I'm just quite unhappy about some things like WHY DOES JULES HAVE TO KEEP LEAVING? It's so upsetting, especially after seeing how he feels about Kate in [b:Die for Her|16102760|Die for Her (Revenants, #2.5)|Amy Plum|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1357925079s/16102760.jpg|21913655]. My heart is breaking for him and for poor Gaspard. ):
And I have so many unanswered questions. How can it just end right there? Can we have an epilogue please or something!?
