I highly enjoyed this book. It was a feel good kind of read for the most part. I already liked John Stamos, but after reading his story it made me like him even more. I did learn a lot about him that I didn't know. It was nice to hear about the values he got from his parents and how he carried them throughout his life.
The only thing I knew about John Stamos is that he played Uncle Jesse on Full House, but now I feel like we're buds. Ha ha! I'm giving “If You Would Have Told Me”* five stars even though I wouldn't reread it. The book was such an unexpected delight, and it made me become interested in learning more about The Beach Boys. I never saw that coming!
Note #1: The audiobook is a must—though the photos in the physical book are awesome. Thanks to the library I was able to double dip.
Note #2: I can't make the time to write a better review, but I know I won't circle back at a later date because I'll have forgotten so much by then, so this is better than nothing. I will say that the memoir felt authentic and I am looking forward to reading other Goodreads reviews in the future.
*Fun fact: “told” autocorrected to “tolerated” and I feel like that'd make a great memoir title for someone else... I don't know who, but it feels comedic.
