This is darker than Mindhunter, but definitely deeper. I appreciate the detailed manner in which Douglas described the psychology of perpetrators. It makes me understand their behavior, but also how to prevent future cases. Though this book reveals the darkest part of the human behavior, it also gives a unique insight into what we can do for our society. Therefore, I think this book is perfect for parents and any other person who works with children.
This book gets a little too preachy, even if it is talking about the worst monsters that roam earth – sexual predators. The long chapter on how to teach your kid about stranger danger is just embarrassing and unnecessary.
Out of all the books by Douglas this one is my least favorite one. Even though it is very interesting I prefer when the author is concentrating on praticular stories to tell rather than generalities like this one.
The writing is very good and clear. The author is compationate and gives advices to the reader to prevent some accidents.
