I adore Lauren Blakely's books, she has the perfect combination of romance and comedy, this book was no different. I think it might be my favourite in this series. Lauren's writing transitions so smoothly from the sweetness to anger, to sexiness and comedy.
Max Summers owns a successful garage, he's always at the top of his game. When he meets a potential new customer at a car show he couldn't be happier, that is, until he finds out that the new car job comes with a catch. He must work side by side with Henley Rose, another mechanic from his rival garage, and the woman he fired. She also happens to be the woman he can't stop thinking about, can he remain professional, or will the attraction become too much for both of them?
I haven't listened to many enemies to lovers stories, but after listening to this book, I think I need to read more. I loved the dynamics between the characters. Rivals working together and falling in love is the perfect rom-com for a Sunday afternoon. I was so engrossed in the story that I completely missed dinner-time until my husband approached begging for food lol. The ending, sigh, it was so good, I loved how it played out. It really was the perfect way for the book to end. Everything is told from Max's POV, just like the other books in the series, with the exception of Henley's to do list chapters, which were funny as heck, I loved them.
Max, Max, Max! I love him so much, he's funny and sexy, and sweet. Of course, I fell in love with him. He's awesome. He also drove me half insane! But in a good way.
Henley Rose is my kind of girl, she's a strong, independent woman. She works in a predominately male workforce but is still extremely girly. I loved that about her. She was different. I was kept guessing throughout the book, about what secret Henley had. I didn't know if it was going to be something major, something hurtful to Max or if it was going to be all hearts and flowers.
It was nice to see cameos from characters from the other books in the series. Although, say that, you don't need to have met the characters before to enjoy the book or for it to make sense, each book is a true standalone. And Roger...oh my word, Roger, I loved him!
The chemistry between Max and Henley is off the charts, from the get go. I loved their interactions – from the excellent banter to the sweet moments and back to the insults. It all fit the characters perfectly. It was sweet watching them going from not being able to stand to be in the same room together to the attraction and falling in love. The sex scenes are hot as hell and fit with the story.
