“Only once every thousand of years or so do such a person...with a phenomenal ability like this appear”(Jujutsu Kaisen 2).? After reading the second chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, this was the favorite quote that I found. I think that it symbolizes not only the physical strength that Yuji Itadori possesses (seen from his fight with the monsters at the school), however, it also represents his big heart and care for others. This “phenomenal ability” is Yuji's ability to turn strangers into his dearest friends such as Gojo Sensei and Fushiguro. In complete contrast, we see that the higher-ups are selfish cowards, willing to kill teenagers like Yuji without hesitation even though he helped keep the Special Grade curse spirit under control. Because of the contrast in ideals and ideology, I think that is why readers come to love Yuji Itadori as a character. Yuji's unmoving motivation to make his grandpa's dream come true is what makes him such an entertaining character to read. Fighting for something bigger than himself, Itadori represents the good will that every human is composed of.
