Esteemed author Tracie Peterson brings to life the Swedish community of Lindsborg, Kansas, in 1887. A quickie, feel-good story that includes a dash of Christmas to it (the majority of the story is not about Christmas). There's a slick villain and a fine neighbor, with a railroad coming to town and siblings that are eager for Sigrid to sell and let them have the money the railroad is willing to pay for the property (left jointly to them at the mother's death). The question of whether she can keep the home she loves or if she can come to grips with losing it is the main crux of the story, with a gentle romance included as well.
