THE KING OF WALL STREET IS BROUGHT TO HIS KNEES BY AN AMBITIOUS BOMBSHELL.
At work, I’m King of Wall Street. The heaviest hitters in Manhattan come to me to make money. They do whatever I say because I’m always right. I’m shrewd. Exacting. Some say ruthless.
At home, I’m a single dad trying to keep his fourteen year old daughter a kid for as long as possible. If my daughter does what I say, somewhere there’s a snowball surviving in hell. And nothing I say is ever right.
When Harper Jayne starts as a junior researcher at my firm, the barriers between my worlds begin to dissolve. She’s the most infuriating woman I’ve ever worked with.
I don’t like the way she bends over the photocopier—it makes my mouth water.
I hate the way she’s so eager to do a good job—it makes my body twitch.
And I can’t stand the way she wears her hair up exposing her long neck. It makes me want to strip her naked, bend her over my desk and trail my tongue all over her body.
If my two worlds are going to collide, Harper Jayne will have to learn that I don't just rule the boardroom. I’m in charge of the bedroom, too.
The King of Wall Street is a stand alone, contemporary romance.

This wasn't what I was expecting at all. I expected Max to be way more Alpha male-y/ asshole. He wasn't at all... Although Harper wouldn't have agreed with me in the beginning LoL. Not that that would have put me off in the slightest... It's just that personality wise I felt this didn't go the way of the norm. I liked it. It's my first Louise Bay book and I'm ready for more.
I've had this book sat on my TBR/TBL for a while now and finally decided to dive in. Especially since I loved Hollywood Scandal so much. I wasn't disappointed. Louise Bay writes characters and situations that you can't help but get lost in. I liked that this book wasn't a straight cut trope, it had elements from different ones. An office romance, a single father, enemies to lovers. It combined them all to make a fun and interesting story. Her writing is smooth and engaging. It draws the listener into the story and holds their attention until the last moment. I listened to this book in one sitting.
These were such great characters. The supporting characters too. I loved Grace, Violet, Scarlet and especially Amanda. Max was incredibly endearing with Amanda, it was sweet the way he was with her as opposed to at the office. The change in him was so stark and I think it gave a whole new level to his character. Harper was lovely, I really liked her, she had some issues and I felt for her, her father had really done a number on her and it affected her relationships with men. I loved how that played out through the book. Amanda was such a sweet girl who just wanted her dad to be happy, and to have a little sister.
I enjoyed the progression of the relationship between Max and Harper, it went from dislike to hot sex, to love. It was fun to be able to join them on the wild ride of their relationship and experience the changes. The sex scenes were scorching and will most definitely melt your headphones. I liked that although there was a little conflict it wasn't drawn out and they both knew what they wanted and were prepared to fight for it. I really liked how well Max got along with his ex and the way that relationship was portrayed in the story.
I don't think there is a character Andi Arndt can't deliver a fantastic performance with. Harper Jayne was no different. The tones and inflections she uses to differentiate between emotions for this character was perfection and heartfelt. Her male voices are always spot on too. I think this is the first time I've heard Sebastian York perform a single dad, oh my days! If you thought his voice was panty-melting before, you've heard nothing yet. The shopping scene was probably my favourite, it was so sweet and endearing. And you will just love when he starts in on the dirty talk. He was the perfect choice for Max King, sweet and gruff. This dual performance was fantastic, I always love listening to this duo. The production was great with no issues.
