After her former friend Leah dies in an automobile accident, Laine remembers their troubled relationship, dating back to elementary school when Leah convinced Laine to "practice" in the closet with her, and Leah controlled her every thought.

This is an intimate study of a child abusing another child. As an adult, I was scared by the effects this abuse had on Laine's life. The parents were completey unaware, but I suspected that the older sister may have had an idea that something was going on. Leah is a character unlike any I have read before. It is a page turner as well (I started it at work last night and finished it right before bed). I would recommend this to my teens who read Glass Castle, A Child Called It, and the Lovely Bones.
As a side note, this one has been on my TBR list for a long time and I am so glad I finally picked it up!
