I loved the banter, the chemistry, and the healing. Some tropes include second chance romance, friends to lovers, and childhood friends.
I loved this quote and seen in the book on page 380. SWOON. “I missed out on a chance to make you mine before, but I don't plan on making the same mistake again. We're the real deal, sweetheart, and I'm done letting you believe anything else.”

the story felt inconsistent & choppy, & the dynamic between julian and dahlia was confusing after the 40% mark imo. the beginning of the book was so focused on them being “enemies/frienemies” then they randomly started falling in love with each other lmaooo.
i didn't feel connected to them :/ i'm so disappointed because they had so much potential! there were some scenes that made me laugh and that were so cute! i just would've enjoyed it so much more if i could connect with the characters.
it kind of feels like their new dynamic/romance came out of nowhere despite all of their history. the “no strings attached” situation just felt pointless, they could've easily just talked their feelings out at that point & gotten together then but the story dragged on for 200 more pages. there weren't any high stakes besides dahlia being scared to be with julian but like i said a simple conversation could've helped with that.
they kinda seemed like teenagers instead of 30 year olds lol
The banter, comedy, romance, and spice was all there!
It was nice to get nods from LA's previous books and characters as well!!
I love this authors voice and tone, her books are always a pleasant and easy read for me.
I enjoyed this book immensely, but something was missing I can't put my finger on.
I don't know if it was because we didn't see much of the tension that caused them to be rivals or enemies in the past...
We didn't get anything about the ten years they were apart. Really surprised Julian didn't have more to say about her ex?
The mental health was spoken about really kindly and respectfully I think. I appreciated that. I had big emotions when they spoke about how both their fathers passed, and so remembering them made me emotional.
Julian loving her in small quiet ways, tugs at my heart strings. A bit of an ass, sure, but he has a big heart.
I enjoyed reading this a lot - I just wished for a little more.
