I define a beach read as something you can start and finish on vacation.
This is a beach read!
I fired through this after my holiday, but I was beside a fireplace and saw the snow from my window. Close enough.
What I loved was the protagonist. She had real internal conflict, which I was captivated by. Her external conflicts were many... her father, her boyfriend, the authorities, the media. But as she struggled to understand her accountability in these relationships, her moral compass guided her to her truth. Really exciting adventure and read.
Where it lost a star for me was in the end. Although the end was satisfying, it went too fast for me. The frenetic pace meant I had to read it again, but it still didn't slow me down. Still, you will come away complete and share the book with a friend. Good sign.
