Allison Beckstrom's talent for tracking spells has put her up against some of the darkest elements in the world of magic. But now, magic itself has been poisoned and Allie's undead father may have left the only cure in the hands of a madman. Original.

I liked how Allie has the barrier to overcome in having no magic she can use. After being a character that predominantly used magic to defend herself, having her struggle to find new ways is interesting. Shame's quips are still as good making me laugh out loud, and the relationship between Shame and Terric is finally making progress and developing into the plot. I was glad to see some characters from earlier in the series come back and I was glad to see characters being unclosed. However given the amount of magic it takes to close/unclose and person I don't think it would have been possible to have so many occurrences in so few chapters. The final battle was well written, shocking and left me on the edge of my seat.
