I have found. I have found a creepy house book worthy of a throne. I loved the concept and the twist. I also liked that the house architecture was relevant. Too often authors spend multiple paragraphs describing the house and it's barely relevant. This felt like horror combined with an adult fairytale and I loved it. Gives author quiet hi-five.

this is somewhere between a 3 to 3.5 for me. i loved the beginning and the tension that was created and the beginning premise. i also like the twist that caused it to go more into horror territory but it just felt a bit disjointed at the end and the pacing was fine until about 60% in and then went down the toliet
I've read one of Megan Shepher's books before, and I didn't love it so I went into this novel with lower expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised! This book has one of my favorite tropes and I think the author did it very well. The writing was chilling and I was rooting for the main character during the intense scenes. My only gripe with this novel is that I wish it went deeper into the character's relationships with other people, more specifically with her father. Overall, it was very satisfying and I'm more interested in reading this author's backlist!
