I've read the first three books in the Midnight Series a few years ago and I was thrilled when Lisa Marie Rice decided to add more books to this series. And Midnight Secrets is an awesome addition! No one writes romantic suspense like Lisa Marie Rice and this series is definitely my favorite.

Midnight Secrets starts a few months after Joe and Isabel meet. Joe is a former Navy SEAL who was almost killed as a result of an explosion in his last mission and Isabel moves in to the house next door from Joe while he's still recovering.

Isabel is broken, like Joe, but her scars run way deeper than his. She's not just recovering physically from a tragedy in her life, she's also heart broken and lonely. Sensing someone hurt Isabel pretty bad, Joe manages to stay close to her and help her in any way he can, while he pushes himself to full recovery. He wants much more from their relationship than a friendship but he doesn't want to scare her with the intensity of his feelings for her, so he waits patiently for her to trust him with her story. And what a story! Isabel and Joe are really good together and I really loved how Joe was so patient and sweet to Isabel. There was also a very strong chemistry between them. I also loved the fact that most of the characters from the previous books show up too and they interact like a loving big family. The plot is absolutely full of twists, suspense, action, emotions and lots of passionate moments.

Midnight Secrets can be read as a standalone even though you'll enjoy it much more if you read the whole series. I hope the next book is about Nick because I'm really curious about his story with Kay. Can't wait for the next!

I received a copy of this book for free from the author.
