I don't even know where to start. From the incredible wordbuilding, to the phenomenal characters and original magic system, this book was a breath of fresh air to me. It touches important and delicate themes like trauma and mental health in a way that, in the end, doesn't reduce its characters to it. A simple premise that features some really nice plot twists and turns that I have to admit I did not expect - and when an author is able to do this, they grab my full attention, because I constantly feel I've seen bits of everything everywhere, making stuff like this predictable.
I've heard that this can be read as a standalone book, but I can't imagine not being curious enough to see where this is going, especially after that epilogue. Consider me a Brandon Sanderson fan, I am sold.
