A classic of the ditch your wife, kids, respectable business and go live with pimps and prostitutes in southern France genre. I enjoyed it but it didn't meet my expectations for Simenon. For starters, it's too short and underdeveloped. Simenon, the man that made Maigret, travelled the world and made love to more than 10,000 women, his 2nd wife said more like 1200 but never mind, I think he could have done much more with this topic.
