Terry Pratchett's profoundly irreverent novels are consistent number one bestseller in England, where they have catapulted him into the highest echelons of parody next to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. In this Discworld installment, Death comes to Mort with an offer he can't refuse -- especially since being, well, dead isn't compulsory. As Death's apprentice, he'll have free board and lodging, use of the company horse, and he won't need time off for family funerals. The position is everything Mort thought he'd ever wanted, until he discovers that this perfect job can be a killer on his love life.

These are still a lot of fun. The Death books have always been some of my favorites and this is a good introduction. I'd forgotten about Albert's backstory! I really enjoyed how this got to the end since I knew where Mort ended up. I did get a bit tired of this in the middle (which you can tell since it took two weeks to finish), but in the end it was fun and I'm glad to be rereading these - I think I just need a break now...
A fun read that introduces Death. Lovely read when he's around, drags when he's not.
Same as my opinion of Equal Rites, just a little more close to an interesting story. Death takes on an human apprentice, Mort. The story revolves around Mort trying to understand the great mystery of what lies beyond the veil of death. The thing is, Death himself does not know or care about any of that.
Mort also, understandably, does not want to “kill” people, so he is struggling with his new job.

Me encantó. Es el primer libro de Terry Pratchett que leo y me ha dejado fascinada. Es bastante ligero y el sentido del humor es buenísimo. Me ha animado a continuar con la serie.
