Ms. Hempel Chronicles

Beautifully written but lacking, as though the author had pieced together a lovely tableau of this woman's life (which seems representative of her own), but could gleam no meaning or depth from it. How disappointing, both for the reader, and for the author. I would be frustrated to find that a set of thinly-veiled autobiographical sketches told nothing about myself, lovely language aside.
