Short Review: I was interested in this memoir because of who wrote it. But I started reading it because it addressed MLK's affairs and some other issues that I have wanted addressed from the inside.
This was a memoir as told to Barbara Reynolds and not published until 10 years after Coretta Scott King passed away. It is not a ‘tell all' but it does have some pretty strong opinions, not just about events but about people as well. Roughly there are three main parts. Her life prior to MLK and her marriage until his death is part one. The second part is her life after MLK's death, mostly focused on the development of the King Center. The third part is about her children and legacy.
I think the first and third parts are better than the second. It isn't that the second is bad, but the second part lacks the narrative structure of the first part and the warmth of the third part.
I am glad I read this. But I also want a good biography of her as well. This is definitely told from her perspective and I suspect that there are places where other perspectives would be helpful.
