This felt like a movie. My first experience with extreme horror. The death scenes are so brutal, to the point where I had to stop reading and come back to it later. But yet, I always did come back. This makes you feel disgusting reading it, but it's a bit like watching a movie through your fingers, you just can't look away. I loved the creativity in the kills, they were fun and I would LOVE to see this made as a movie. Slashers don't typically work because they feel very surface level, and boring. This one was paced perfectly. I loved flashing from Zoe's shifts at the gas station to the Prowler going on killing sprees. We didn't waste time getting to know his victims, we just went along for the ride.
I have no idea how I managed to miss the “WARNING” sign for this book. I honestly thought I was picking up a fun slasher, wow was I wrong. This was grotesque, brutal, vile, disturbing, stomach churning and I think I will pay more heed to the warnings next time. This is definitely not for the faint hearted and I would not recommend this unless you are a true extreme horror fan. With that said I struggle to give this a rating since I was not prepared for the carnage.
