Intriguing Spin On A Familiar Tale

I. Love. This.

Yes, I love this tale enough to dramatically punctuate the statement. I don't want to spoil anything, as I feel a large part of the enjoyment I gained from this book originated from not knowing what to expect. I will say, however, that this book contains an elderly woman as the protagonist and she is refreshingly strong. I loved seeing how the lore came together and had fun guessing when certain familiar elements would come into play.

The only reason this isn't a five-star story for me is that the lore has a few holes in it and the beginning has a hard-to-imagine setting which is only better described toward the middle. Overall, it's still very enjoyable.
