Her writing is like a magical potion that zaps you out of any reading slump! It's like soaring through a wonderland of richly crafted characters and vivid scenes. You'll never want to stop flipping those pages! I did my research, peeked at the reviews before diving in, and guess what? Against popular belief, I absolutely adored the ending! It was like sprinkling stardust on the whole story, making it a solid 5-star read for me. And guess what? There's a tiny flicker of hope that we might get a delightful spin-off or maybe even another book in the future! How exciting is that?
While I didn't mind with her other books, it really annoyed me that she only writes the same stories and characters, just with different names. Hee books are still quick reads, but this one I just could not care less about..
I skipped through most of this book to a very disappointing end, so I'm glad I saved myself the effort. I will not continue reading this author's books, but I do think they are fun for 10-15 year old readers who are new to the murder mystery genre.
I'm not sure if I'm just biased for some reason, but the author's novels seem to be getting better over time, and this one is probably my favorite Karen M. McManus mystery so far.
5 stars, in the spirit of giving something more than a 4
This was my first of Karen M. McManus' books and I really enjoyed it! I have a soft spot for YA mystery/thrillers and this book was no different. The mystery throughout had me hooked and I couldn't put it down. Definitely going to read McManus' backlist after this!
Thank you to Random House Children's, Delacorte Press, and NetGalley for providing me with an eBook copy to review.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This author's books are always so very engaging and incredibly readable. Fast-paced, well written, full of twists and turns, with this author's signature multiple POVs and time jumping. The only minor issue I had was that the ending was rushed. Two huge thumbs up for this one.

The story was made very complicated which felt unnecessary at times. It didn't have the same feel as other Karen's books.
