I started reading this series so that I could discuss the books with my son, but found that they are actually very fun. You can get through one in a night or two, and there are some surprising twists and turns. One of the better children's series I've come across.
This series is very popular in the third grade at my school right now, and I can see why. For preteens, this is a good action and adventure series. For me, as an adult, it doesn't quite work. I do like the premise of having each book in a different country and revolving around a different historical figure. I really can't think of anything specific to say about this one.
I'm perplexed at how often characters “goggle” in this second installment in the 39 Clues series.
