I would recommend reading this book in the fullest light of day and not as a bedtime book, especially for the family or child that is not often handling creatures and might find it a little scary to think of a boy and mother handling snakes, spiders, salamanders, and more. This is an interesting little diary entry with rainy imagery about returning specimens to the wild in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains and gaining fresh ones for the local nature center. I read this book through inter-library loan.
