I have literally no critiques. This book is perfection. The representation, the romance, the plot, the feels—perfection! This was my first book by Hannah Bonam-Young, and it won't be the last! Out on a Limb follows Win and Bo and their life together after a one night stand results in a pregnancy. The way the author treats the pregnancy and Win's opinions and thoughts is so great and there were definitely things I could relate to as someone who's experienced pregnancy. And Bo! Bo is so amazing and so tender. His story is so special. I loved it. Every bit of it. The story, the romance, the spicy bits—it was just so good! There's an authors note at the front of the book that discusses some of the themes so please check that out or dm me for trigger warnings. Out on a Limb is an adult romance, 18+ for themes and content
If you read one accidental pregnancy book in your life, make it this one. It was so artfully done, it was real and gave me hope.
One of the best book of 2023 for me.
This is a very sweet book about finding love at unexpected and challenging times, finding the courage to trust again and leap for a chance at happiness.
It has several bits that are well loved on contemporary romances:
- Disability representation (FMC and MMC)
- MMC is a tall and nerd cinnamon role
- Found family
- Forced proximity
- Spice and praise
I've found the beginning and middle of the story very strong.
My favorite parts were the interactions between Win and Bo and I wished we had more of them. I believe it would have benefited the story, as it could have shown a bit more pinning from Bo.
“I'm not sure how to pace myself here. How to slow down so you can catch up,” he whispers.
The story has a lot of internal discussions and dialogue which, due to Win insecurities, made me loose a bit of interest along the way, hence the rating.

I fell in love with this book at
Bo: “Win, is that short for something”
Win: “Winnifred...What about you, are you tall for something”
I died. It was a dad joke so good I was immediately depressed that I hadn't invented it myself.
But in all seriousness Bo is the sweetest. Thats my review.
Idk if I'm just getting old or whatever, but I'm kinda over “lukewarm” asshole heroes. You know the type of guys that are douchey in like ~ n o r m a l ~ ways? Like they're almost so real that they remind me of people that could possibly/actually do exist? And then I get angry?
It might also just be a phase, but right now I either want depravity à la the Samantha Rue and Angel Lawson Forsyth Royals series, or an absolute sugar cube like Bo <3 Or like, just a dude who is well adjusted (possibly goes to therapy) enough to recognize his own emotional state.
Win and Bo are soulmates. Overflown with happiness and sincerity at their story.
It's not just a surprise pregnancy, but it touches on more deeper topics in such a caring way
wow this one caught me a little by surprise. I thought the disability rep was handled really well and the story was so touching, definitly recommend
Jumped in with my eyes closed. Didn't realize this was a book about pregnancy (and love). I hate the pregnancy trope. HATE IT! and yet i pushed through and I'm so glad I did. I loved the writing style, I loved Win (FMC) and I absolutely loved Bo. Best Golden Retriever man ever.
