A short story framed as a narration of the protagonist to a friend sharing a drink. The narrator was explaining his reason for dropping Pickman as an artist, despite the artist's obvious talent and unique paintings. The narrator had been invited by the artist to a secluded and secret studio; the experience of which so unnerved the narrator, that he simply dare not continue his patronage. It is a rather creepy tale told with suitably atmospheric setup. Nothing drastic occurs though, as the narrator leaves the studio safe and sound, albeit quite unnerved. I suppose the way it ended kind of kept me from really enjoying it.
