I adore the art but I wish the story felt more impactful, maybe if it was longer and had more time to flesh out the characters? I’m not sure but something felt like it was missing
Indira is a human who has been cybernetically augmented, and Fawn is a human-presenting AI. After having an embarrassingly public argument, they have been forced to work together on a project in the art gallery in which they work. Slowly their rivalry begins to evolve.
An intriguing story of the near future.
(7/1/2023) a quick read, but it didn't feel rushed. wish we could have spent more time with the characters, but it was pleasing in a wrapped-up short film kinda way. the art was cool, the banter was good. worldbuilding could have gone a bit deeper, but if we think of it as a small package maybe it was just enough? undecided.
(3.5) Wish this was more fleshed out.
At first I thought the little snippets of real world AI-news were a bit out of place, like if you're gonna work on these themes, just put them into your story instead of putting them on a pre-explained platter. But then it kinda worked for me. This was nice.
I don't really know what to rate this book. The story seemed so complex and was covered in so few pages. It's hard to rate a book when you're not even sure you understood it.
