Another good entry in the series, with a bit of a twist at the end. The series are individual mysteries, with one overarching mystery about Electra's past, which will be interesting to see where that goes in future volumes in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
5 stars! Even though the love triangle is still triangling... but it might be starting to die.
This is probably my favourite instalment in the Electra McDonnell series, so far. The action takes us away from London for the first time and the story focuses more on Ellie and less on her family, compared to the previous books.
I had an amazing time with this. The possible relationship development made me squee! Plus, we got introduced to a new character, who is on the side of our spy team and I would very much like to see more of them in future books!
If you enjoyed the other books in the series, I can't think of a reason why this one wouldn't also be a hit for you!
It does end on the meanest cliffhanger of them all, though. And I'm quite grumpy about the fact that I have to wait for the next book.
I just finished Playing it Safe by Ashley Weaver and here is my review. Book 3.
It's hard going straight after being a safecracking thief but Ellie is determined to try. When British intelligence officer Ramsey comes to her with an assignment she finds it hard to refuse. She has to travel under an assumed name and then wait. Ellie hates waiting.
With her safecracking tools in tow she does as she is told when she witnesses a man fall to his death. She somehow knows it's all connected and soon, Ellie and Ramsey are pitted against an unknown adversary and a possible Nazi operation. The bombs are dropping all around them and they must work fast to protect England and the lives of those around them.
Another excellent book in the Electra Mcdonnell series! Ellie is such a great protagonist and I love her adventures so much! The language is lucid and the writing is so cozy and fun! This is my kind of historical fiction. Mystery based with a solid female protagonist and the fact Ellie isn't innocent... Makes me love her more.
This book is a real page turner and the whole series is so great! It is time to invest in this series and spend some time in Ellie's world.
4.5 stars! Thank you to @minotaur_books for my gifted copy!
Great book, great addition to the series. It kept me on my toes the whole time. I particularly loved all the action.
