DNF - PG 144
Why?
I had this well thought out review thing-y, and then it didn't save. Blerg.
Anyway.
I remember when I read the synopsis for this book. I didn't think Astrid sounded like my type of character at all - and she isn't. Nathan is...almost tolerable, when he isn't thinking about what the ‘beast inside' wants. (Which is mostly Astrid, bent over. So, yeah, that's pleasant.) The fact is, I had my doubts going into it - besides the characters, the setting is the frigid Canadian outback and...I HATE winter survival stories. With a passion.
I knew I'd have to be surprised early on and I wasn't. The story isn't bad, if you like these types of characters, and the setting, and I could have forced my way through it and probably wound up with a two star read because it's not offensive - and if you liked the previous books I don't doubt you could do a lot worse.
I do plan on reading the fourth book, but my interest has been tempered a bit as lady journalists aren't my thing, either.
