I drank the Walsh Kool-Aid soon after reading the opening sentence in book one. To say I love these characters is an understatement. . So I'm shocked and disappointed that I didn't enjoy this book more.

In the beginning I was totally confused, so much so that I downloaded the previous book to double check if I'd forgotten some major events relating to the main characters and storyline. I hadn't,because they're my favorite couple and that was my favorite book of 2015. That's when I realized this book was sorta kinda before, during, and ultimately after book four. While that time jump worked well in book four because everything was on point, it didn't here. Sooooo not a fan of this confusing format.

I enjoyed getting to learn more about Tiel and the struggles that she and Sam went through. I was pleased to see that Riley has matured a little. But overall, my feeling after reading this was “Whaaaa?” I'm not quite sure what I was supposed to get out of this one. Even after several days, I'm still perplexed.

I could have skipped this one and been fine but that makes me sad since I love the series
