I am a list-gal. If it's not on the list, it likely never gets done! Teaching kids the importance of organization and time management (age-appropriate) is one of the best ways to prepare them for school, then high-school, and yes, even adulthood! It's a fundamental life-skill, and with the hilarious illustration of Riley Madison's lack of routine, Riley Madison Discovers the Superpower of a List is a fun way to introduce the life-changing concept of a list.
This short chapter book is geared for early readers (I'd say 6-10), though it could be just as fun to read aloud. The chapters are quick, easy to read, and each one holds an exciting and funny new reason on why Riley Madison needs a list. Many kids, especially those that may suffer from ADHD and ADD may relate to Riley as she constantly finds herself distracted from her tasks. She doesn't mean to be disobedient, she just gets distracted and forgets what she is doing (I think we all can relate)! Introducing a structure for Riley in the form of a list helped to keep her focused and made her feel accomplished with each checkmark!
Overall, I think Riley Madison Discovers the Superpower of a List is a great book for elementary teachers to keep on hand, parents, and perhaps even grandparents! It's a fun book to read with a valuable life skill included. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!
