Strange Art Style Choices
I am so confused by this being marketed as a “primer” for the TV show yet having such discordant art choices.
Veronica looks far too thin, which unnerves me when I know that her Riverdale actress has struggled with people complaining about her weight. She also looks biracial at best judging by the way her face is drawn. Her mother looks totally white in most panels, leaving only her father to look latino. (Also, Hermione calls Veronica “Ronnie” and it feels very weird.) Jug wears cutoff vests and tees without jackets and standard denim jeans... and has brown eyes.??Archie looks older in facial features than Grundy, who just plain looks wrong. Pop looks like he's in??his thirties at latest. Just... very odd choices.
I can't say I learned anything new, other than apparently Archie deliberately lied to his dad about going on the road trip with Jug so he could shack up for a couple days with his gross teacher affair instead. As if he weren't terrible enough to Jug in early season one Riverdale to begin with...
Not bad, but also not great.
I have decided to give this a shot because I like the show, it's a collection of four stories each one about a main character Archie , Betty , Veronica and Jughead . I knew pretty much all of these stories from the show except for Betty's in the show it wasn't mentioned at all , and I thought it was pretty cool. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue reading the other books or not.
