I got this book for free about 4 years ago but as I accumulated books, this one just moved further and further down my tbr. The writing is great which is what kept me hooked. This is the first book in a 4 book series. However, I won't be continuing the series because the reviews on them have been rather iffy.
I am going to start with saying that the writing made Run very entertaining. We are introduced to the main character Reid who is in an unfortunate situation, fighting for survival. He gets into survival mode quick and tries to figure out his situation all while avoiding creatures hunting him and other children down.
We don't learn anything in this book. Reid and fellow children are running from their lives from these hunters that have animalistic qualities. The description of the hunters made me think of the Hunters in the video game Left 4 Dead 2. Other than that this was a good read but I won't be reading the other books in the series.

Hot for Teacher!
I absolutely this first installment. I have just finished book two tonight and did not realize that I had not done a review for book one so here we are. I do not understand why people give a bad review because a book ends on a cliffhanger. It is easy to see if a book is a standalone or in a series, either by the blurb or the reviews. Also, the author gives you the first book free so you can see if you like It or not. If you do, then, no brainer, buy the next book. You don't buy it if you don't. I happened to love this series so far. I do not even have to worry about buying it because the entire series from what I can tell is on Kindle Unlimited so that is a plus.
Teacher/student romances is one of my favorites when I read taboo, and Penny and James are dynamite together! Their chemistry is so palpable and the heat simmered off my Kindle! I think everyone has had a crush on a teacher at some time or another, so it is a fantasy come true to get to live it vicariously thru this couple. Yes, there is a cliffhanger. Yes, I borrowed the next book and have already finished it. I will also be reading the succeeding books! That is what a good story and author will get you to do! At least you do not have to wait on them. They are all available now!!! Here is to hopping James does not mess up royally and they stay together.
