ARC REVIEW*
I would give this book if I could 3.5 stars. It took me 40-50% of the book to properly get into it, I still enjoyed it all, but I feel that's where the story picked up.
Brady did well at the world building as well as dual POV, which I've found many authors seemed to struggle to do really well. Nearly everything in this book was given a name, the plants, the creatures, and he did well at the naming along with the characters.
There were some aspects of the book that I sort of thought about why was that added in or not expanded on more.
Katsi rescued a lizard like animal right at the beginning of the book, nursed it back to health, and felt comfort having it but then releases it back into the wild because she feels its no longer safe for him. We never see this little guy again, which I think is a real shame, especially with how long katsina has him.
The kiss scene seemed a bit rushed. They kissed, and she stabbed him, and then they just went on about their day like nothing ever happened.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, The characters were well thought out, and the world building was done very well. There were slow aspects in the book, but when it did pick up, it was very good, and I can feel this carrying on into the 2nd and hopefully other future books.
