Horror master Junji Ito explores a new frontier with a grand cosmic horror tale in which a mysterious woman has her way with the world! Did she wander in? Or was she drawn in…? A woman walks alone at the foot of Mount Sengoku. A man appears, saying he’s been waiting for her, and invites her to a nearby village. Surprisingly, the village is covered in hairlike volcanic glass fibers, and all of it shines a bright gold. At night, when the villagers perform their custom of gazing up at the starry sky, countless unidentified flying objects come raining down on them, the opening act for the terror about to occur.

After a Volcanic eruption of Mount Sengoku, mysterious golden, hair-like fibers flow through the air and stick to the locals giving them special gifts. One woman in particular has a full head of golden hair. There's something about her that has everyone mesmerized. A reporter becomes obsessed with finding her purpose, stumbling into a cult with more nefarious ideas in mind.
I absolutely adore Junji Ito. His artwork is phenomenal and disturbing. He is a master of body horror. With that being said, i was disappointed with Sensor. I guess he was looking to write a manga focused on Cosmic horror but it was boring and not scary aside from a select few scenes towards the end. The plot was weird and jumped around a bit. Characters weren't too interesting. If you're looking to read Junji Ito, do not chose Sensor as your first read
Really interesting and conceptually appealing manga. The artwork is top notch. I will say I did fine the story rather underwhelming when we got to the conclusion. But. Maybe that's the point? It may grow or me. But right now I'm feeling a 6.5/10
If half stars were a thing, I'd rate it 3.5. It was okay. Good even, at points, but not great. I didn't find the plot line overly thrilling, and some of the plot threads veered off in a weird way that wasn't good (a shame because Ito does good weird very well!). I didn't have any strong feelings toward any of the characters, and though the intro was very interesting, I felt it petered out as the end came around.
That said, the art was amazing! Beautiful and horrifying in that distinctly Ito way. I may not have loved the story but my eyes were never bored!
