This was a downer of a story. There were two characters that were decent but there was so much dirty stuff with the blood-stained streets of a mafia town. The ending was poignant with scarred characters moving forward to make the best of their lives.
There is a lot of Catholic content that shows how faith encourages the characters in their daily lives. However, I was also sad to see that a madam was viewed as being “spiritual” because she had been attending church for years and yet somehow didn't do everything she could to get out of a life where her prosperity was dependent on selling other women. This is one example of many instances of an attitude of “we try to do good but we are stuck in the status quo so we just make the best of it.”
Content: murder, drinking, cheating, prostitution
