The Jardine children were happy living at Charnley. But one night after their mother's birthday party this happiness was overshadowed by a family scandal. Workers unearth a shoebox stuffed full of old letters, photographs and a diary going back to the Second World War. A voyage to Egypt is undertaken to try and unearth the mystery of the contents of the shoebox,. A mummified body of a brutally murdered woman is discovered in their old home and this lets forth a pandoras box.
