Everyone wants Maisie's attention, except for the one person she is watching: Star.
Maisie is beautiful and always has been. The boys have always fallen all over her, but she has never been interested. If anything, they have always been an annoyance to her. She knows she is pretty, but she knows that she had nothing to do with it. The boys do not really see her, they just see the outside of her.
Look at Star though, she sits where Maisie wants to sit. She ignores the world going on around her. She has gorgeous purple hair. She is always drawing or reading. She is always busy doing something.
Then one day, Maisie literally bumps into Star and realizes that Star knows who she is. Then Star tells her that she only likes girls. Maisie's world spins on its axis and she realizes she needs to talk to Star again.
I do not want to give too much away as this is a novella, but Ella Goode writes a cute young adult love story in She's The One (Amazon Digital, B07XNL2J1W, 2019). “Cute” might seem like an odd word to use, but these characters are exactly that together. Their personalities mesh and they are too sweet (laugh). They are that couple that you yell at to “Get a Room!” because they cannot keep their hands off each other. Cute.
As I am writing this, I am actually smiling remembering the story. Cute. I wish everyone's first times were this easy and wonderful. Heck I want my next date to go this well. I want a Star or even a Maisie. Still smiling. Goode has created characters that make you smile even when the story is over and that makes She's the One the one to read.
