Shock treatment
A TV salesman, Peter Regan, falls in love with Gilda Delaney, the wife of a wheelchair bound bully. She had never stopped blaming herself for the accident that crippled her husband. At least, that was the story she told him - a story he had no reason to doubt, infatuated as he was with everything about her. Peter therefore decides to murder the bully with an ingenious plan using a TV set as the murder weapon. It was only afterwards that he began to wonder....

হ্যাডলি চেইজ পড়িনি কখনও। এই বইটার নাম শুনেছিলাম কোথাও। রেলস্টেশনে দেখতে পেয়ে কিনলাম। কিন্তু খুব বেশি পড়ার সুযোগ পাইনি সেদিন। একটা গুরুগম্ভীর বই নিয়ে বসেছিলাম আজকে দুপুরবেলা। কিন্তু পাড়ার দুর্গাপূজার মণ্ডপ থেকে ভেসে আসা বাজনার আওয়াজে সেই বই পড়া ভন্ডুল হয়ে গ্যালো। গুরুগম্ভীর বই বন্ধ রেখে এটা পড়লাম।
প্রবল ঢাকের আওয়াজ, মাইকে লতা মঙ্গেশকরের আওয়াজ সত্ত্বেও বইটা দিব্যি শেষ করতে পারলাম। এই জন্যে একটা তারা। শেষ দশ পৃষ্ঠার আগে পর্যন্ত রীতিমত টেনে ধরে রেখেছিলো গল্পের রহস্য। সেই জন্যে আরেকটা তারা। আর কোনোদিন পড়বো হ্যাডলি চেইজ? না। এটা উপলব্ধি করানোর জন্যে বাকি তিনটে তারা কেটে নিলাম।
