My best friend was dying and I was in love with his girl. Andy and I had been best friends since we were eight-years old. Watching him slowly fade away, ever closer to his final breath, made me so incredibly angry. I knew there was nothing I could do to change it--I had given in to despair, but Andy had not. He had one last hand to play. He wasn't going to simply sit back and wait for Death to claim him--not Andy. He was going to live life until he couldn't hold his eyes open any longer. Andy didn't want to die in some sterile hospital and asked me to take him and Emily to the beach. It would be our last road trip together. Emily. Emily was a problem for me. I harbored a secret that would have torn our friendship apart. I was in love with Andy's girl, and had been since she'd walked into our sixth grade class, so many years ago. So what kind of person am I? My best friend is dying, and it's awful--but my heart still aches for his girl. I hate myself for thinking beyond Andy's death and whether there could ever be a future for Emily and I, but I can't help it. I'm in love with her.

Well, this just may be a record DNF for me. Not in the mood for pages and pages of details about the heroes sex life with OW. Plus I did a search and that OW is all through the book causing issues...so ya, I have way too many books to read to spend my time on one I know I won't end up enjoying.
I am sure I'll be in the minority again with this one. lol
Hilarious, charming and heart-warming with a great cast of characters!
How can I not love a story that starts off with an Animaniac reference and just keeps getting better?
Sara and Travis make a great - and funny - couple, and I thoroughly enjoyed their laugh-snort-inducing shenanigans.
Though to be honest, I fell in love with every single one of the characters (well maybe not Clay, though I suspect that might change in the future) - and especially with 8 year old Kyle, who reminded me very much of one of my nephews. <3
This is the first book I've read by this author, but book #1 in the series is now very much on my TBR pile, and I suppose the next book in the series will eventually end up on my Kindle, too.
Excellent Design. This story was a fun, mostly light read perfect for the beach and vacation (when I read it). The darkness that is alluded to early on doesn't get quite as dark as I was dreading it might, and for that I was grateful. Other than that particular subplot though, a very enjoyable read.
