It is 1799, the eve of a new century. In New York City, young Constable Ichabod Crane is eager to use the latest scientific methods to solve the most brutal of crimes. But nothing can prepare him for the shocking murders that take him far from the city's cobblestones to the eerie town of Sleepy Hollow. Awaiting him are three beheaded bodies, all apparently victims of a legendary Headless Horseman returned from the grave to exact revenge. Ichabod uses reason to confront the horrors of the unexplained, but the reality of Sleepy Hollow's waking nightmare is always before him. A reality where witches cast spells in the darkened woods.trees bleed.and a demon rides at night.

The film novelization vs. the original short story So I like this novelization because it was a lot like the film and it was fast paced and atmospheric which I love, it's one my favourite films. I like the fact that Ichabod Crane is terrified of spiders because I am as well they creep me out, but I don't really understand how he can be a constable in the New York Police Department if he is squeamish about blood or corpses when he has already dealt with people that have been murdered.
However the original story was very detailed about anything other than the headless hessian soldier and why sleepy hollow was cursed or why and how the headless horseman was resurrected.
