Short review: I am a stay at home Dad, so I both enjoy and loathe reading books about being a Dad. Dads are either idiots or incredible and either approach is just not real. This book does a fairly good job at balancing the real weaknesses and strengths of Magary and making him into an authentic person. There is both humor and seriousness here. Unlike some Dad books, Magary seems to actually have an emotional depth that is lacking in some books.
It is a quick read and not really all that unique, but it was worth reading.
Quick note: I thought this would spend some time talking about the problems of over parenting and hovering as parents from the title, but other than a really quick section that was just not a theme of the book. If I were writing a book I would spend more time talking about that, but I can't ding a book for it not including something that I would write about.
