Son of a Hundred Kings takes place at the end of the 19th Century, and revolves around Ludar Prentice, a young boy who traveled to Canada to live with his father only to find him dead. Romance follows as Ludar pursues Tony, the beautiful girl he has loved since childhood, hoping to make her his wife. He will also uncover his secret identity of the past.
Costain presents and challenges the fallacy that the measure of a man is more than the sum of his wealth and ancestral blood.
This is a well-written book with fully-developed characters, substance and integrity; a great read for those who enjoy Charles Dickens.
