I am loving this series. Kagen and Co. are still trying to find a way to defeat the Witch King.
They may have more allies than before, but there are also more obstacles too. Cannibal warriors and a disease that turns the infected into mindless killing machines are just a couple of the things they need to overcome.
I love these characters so much! I can't wait to read the next one.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an e-arc.
I just finished Son of the poison rose by Jonathan Maberry and here are my thoughts
Kagen is on the run. The silver empire is ruined and the smell of war is heavy in the air. The witch king has spies everywhere and the magic is swirling all around. The looming reward on Kagen's head is enough to make anyone think about turning him in.
Kagen needs an army and it's going to take the adventure of a lifetime to get the army together that he needs to protect the world from the horrors that are just about to be unleashed.
Not going to lie.... This book is long! Well worth it though! This dark epic fantasy has enough battle scenes to keep any fantasy addict glued to their seats. The writing was lucid and clever and so entertaining I convinced my husband to read it even though he hadn't read book 1. Didn't matter! He enjoyed it just as much as I did. The pace isn't fast but definitely not slow either.
Kinda a little in love with Kagen. He literally has the weight of the world on his shoulders and knows it won't be easy to do what needs to be done but does it anyway. You would think for a book this size, there would be lulls in the story, well think again! Definitely a lot of world building, which is normal with a fantasy book and I am definitely ready for book 3 already!
Solid 4 stars
