This review is specifically about the audiobook version narrated by Rachel F. Hirsch.
Narration: 4.5 stars, I found that the audio on 1x speed sounded almost like the narrator's voice had been artificially slowed down and I ended up settling on 2x the speed and found the narration to be rather pleasant.
Story: 3.5 stars, the story is slow to start and the first almost 50% of the book is just getting to know Susan and some world building but by the end of the book I wanted more, which is usual for Gant's writing in my experience. Sadly, the ending felt overly optimistic and almost rushed and I would have preferred if it was left more open ended/up to the imagination.
I enjoyed the autistic representation (secondary character is autistic) and thought it was pretty well done.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this audiobook from Tantor Audio on NetGalley
