This made me so happy. I love Supes and Jon and this new version of Superman is amazing
I've always felt that one of the most essential parts of a good Superman story is his need to surround himself with family, and how that family gives him strength. This volume - where Superman and his wife Lois try to help their son Jon with his developing powers - tells that story very well.
The superhero-y bits with the Eradicator attacking Jon for not being “perfectly” Kryptonian provide a nice thematic counterpoint to that family story as well.
I have no idea of how this fits into the larger DC continuity, or if that word even has meaning anymore, but as a stand-alone story this was great.
I'm very interesting to see where this is going to go. They completely sold me in this vol. on Superman being a family man(I really love it, it fits his character so well), super boy is a pretty strong character, and Louis hijacks Batman's hell-bat bot suit of armor to fight a villian.
I'm hoping the next vol. will cover a bit more on superman teaching super boy things about his powers. I'm wondering since super boy is half what kinda powers he will even have. This issue hinted that his powers could be changing or maybe even unreliable?! The story is pretty good, I'm a little more interested on the dynamics of the family and even how the justice league will be in the future. The artwork was really great through out this whole book. ~Ashley
