Tails from the Animal Shelter is a charming book that tells children about the sorts of animals (did you know that 200,000 horses are rescued or surrendered to care every year?) that come through animal shelters, the reasons animals (most common reason: owners move and can't take animals with them) come to animal shelters, and lots of other miscellaneous facts about animal shelters. The illustrations are delightful and the text is fascinating.
