Read this one for the second time. So many insights that I missed last time. An evergreen book.
could've been a blog post, but some useful nuggets
If you're early in your productivity journey, this can be a helpful primer. It can get very proscriptive, which works for a beginner. Not as great for someone mid way in their journey and they already know how to get things done. The key take away is to aim high and work constantly to achieve those goals.
Another “rich dad poor dad” concept but poorly executed. The book reads like a brain dump of grant cordone and not cohesive enough for anyone to take meaningful action
It's basically just a motivational speech but it's a really good one.
At times it's pretty cheesy, summarized as: “just go on and DO it man, don't let FEAR hold you back from your DREAMS” lol.
But then there's his stories about he actually exemplified pushing past fear and insecurity and taking on roles larger than he was used to, like getting his own TV show, or quitting his drug addiction. Those stories are really entertaining and profoundly introspective.
Pretty good book, definitely lit a fire under me and for that I am grateful. There are some repetitive things, but you have to hear the same thing multiple times and ways before it can really sink in. A lot of takeaways and ideas to implement! Recommended for those looking for motivation. And highly recommend the audiobook as the author reads it and adds a little commentary to his book.
One of the greatest books I have ever read. Ever! If it were fiction, it would be placed on the “6th Star” shelf.
About the book: The 10X Rule (2011) provides clear indications for how to best plan your road to success. This book will teach you why this little-known strategy works and how to put it into action, while also giving you the tools you need to become more successful than you ever thought possible.
About the author: Grant Cardone is a sales training expert who works with companies worldwide and owns three companies of his own. The 10X Rule is his third best-selling book.
My highlights:
The 10X rule means investing ten times more and reaching ten times further. success always requires more effort than you originally thought
It's much more desirable to fail to meet an incredibly high expectation than to attain a mediocre goal.
When faced with a challenge, go all out. just make massive action your natural habit
Wanting to be average means thinking only about getting by, perhaps thinking about tomorrow or the day after, but not any further. The danger here is that average can sink to below average very quickly.
To get the biggest results, you have to go all-in. To succeed against such odds, you have to be obsessed with your goals; they have to dominate your thoughts and become your mission.
When others see how obsessed you are, they'll be prepared to follow you on your journey to realize your wildly ambitious goals. On the other hand, if you fail to show this devotion, they'll be unlikely to believe in your optimism.
Strive for growth and stay in control of your time and feelings. the road to success is paved with growth and it's better to fail while fighting than while retreating.
