The conflict and cast of characters continue to expand, although the interactions between various factions remains (IMO) surprisingly pedestrian. There was not enough world-building done before-hand to justify some of the interactions (again, IMO) but perhaps that impression is just due to the author's style of storytelling. The premise was unique enough that I would like to see more world-building in any future volumes.
